Three papers titiled "Experimental Flight of KIT Student's Rocket in France", "Experiment and Numerical Calculation of Air-Water Phased Propulsion Flow of Water Rocket" and "Trajectory Optimization of Winged Rocket Using GA/SQP Algorithm" have been presented at theKSAS-JSASS Joint International Symposium on Aerospace Engineering in Jeju Irland of Korea.

The second flight of winged rocket WIRES #11 has been sucessfully conducted at Hibikinada Coastal Industrial Zone of Kitakyushu City in Fukuoka Prefecture.

The enhanced navigation, guidance and control system and the new control law were evaluated. The GPS, which is under development by Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology for the souding rockets of JAXA/ISAS, could capture the satelite signals at the accelaration and subsonic flight.

The student group of Kyushu Institute of Technology has participated in the national rocket launch campaign sponsored by CNES and French Society of Planete Sciences. Their experimental rocket named "Ninja", which had the body length of 2m and weight of 15kg, was launched in the military camp of La Courtine in France.

Mr. Fukushima, the journalist of Asashi Newspaper, visited our campus to cover materials on the student's experimental rocket, which will be launched in France this summer.

The final design review meeting for the rocket launch campaign at the military camp of La Courtine in France was held in Tobata Campas.

Mr. Christophe Scicluna, the engineering supervisor of Planete Sciences, checked the design and compliance with the safety requirements.

The 26th International Symposium on Space Technology and Science was held on June 1-8 in Hamamatsu, Japan. Four papers on winged experimental rocket, microwave energy transmission, composite with hydrogen gas barrier characteristics, and French rocket launch campaign were presented.

Dr. Nonaka (JAXA/ISAS), Dr. Nishida (The University of Tokyo) and Mr.Shimoda (Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology) visited our Space Systems Laboratory to discuss on the UAV flight testing.

The 53rd International SAMPE Symposium and Exhibition was held on May 18-22, 2008 in Long Beach , California. A paper on high hydrogen gas barrier characteritics of composite material using dense clay layer was presented.

The subscale winged rocket WIRES#11 succeeded its first test flight at Hibikinada Coastal Industrial Zone in Kitakyushu City of Fukuoka Prefecture.

The purpose was to evaluate the navigation, guidance and control system for the ascent phase.

The winged rocket, which is 1m long and weighs 6.2kg, reached the altitude of about 70m and deployed the parachute for recovery.
